One of Canada's premier distance runners, who was a major competitor for years and still holds the Canadian record in the Marathon. He won several international races, including the Fukuoka Marathon and the Boston Marathon. His world record for ten miles held for several years, as did his Canadian Indoor 5000m.
Abby was a pioneer in women's distance running when it finally became possible for them to race more than 200m. She held the Canadian 400m record for awhile but excelled at 800m. She was a Commonwealth Champion and a finalist at the Munich Olympics where she set a long standing Canadian record.
Bob is the longest competing member of the Club who has over 1500 races to his credit, all documented and over 200,000 km. in training. He was, and still is, a major participant in local and national races, with a 2:15 marathon to his credit. In addition, he helped form the Metro Roadrunners and the Ontario Masters Association.
Bob was an active member of the Club for many years in many capacities. He competed as a Master, was the Club President for a period, then took over the Bingo program where he did an excellent job helping to finance our competitive activities.
