2024 Nike Indoor Nationals
The Nike Indoor Nationals was held at the Armory (aka Nike Track and Field Center) in New York City. The Armory is a state-of-the art Indoor track facility with lots of history. Just in February, current 1500m world champion, Josh Kerr from Britain, broke the world record in the two-mile race in just 8 minutes and 0.67 seconds.
TOC’s junior athlete, Kyle Leung, qualified for the Boys Middle School 1 Mile event. This is his first out-of-Canada race and also his first national level event.
60 middle schoolers registered for the 1-mile event with only six seventh graders include Kyle. Kyle in the first heat started at the back of the group but overtook a number of runners finishing 8th in the heat in a time of 5:09.32.
Kyle is satisfied with the result crediting the coaches for the training and preparations for this very race.
