Greg Purkis

Greg Purkis was a competitive runner in high school, specializing in the 1500m event, until he changed focus to Rugby while recovering from an Achilles tendon injury.  Greg competed for both Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute and Toronto Scottish RFC against both provincial opponents and visiting touring sides, and travelled on several international tours to play in New Zealand, Fiji, Belgium, The Netherlands, and France. Chronic shoulder injuries forced a stop to his rugby playing days.

Greg resumed his running career in 2005, competing in events from 5k to the Marathon, with his best results coming out to be the half-marathon.  Greg also competes on TOC’s Masters cross-country team in the fall.  Looking for a way to give back more to the sport, Greg began his coaching career in 2012.

Greg is a regular volunteer with the Canada Running Series and other local races, and Meet Director for several youth track and field meets.

Greg is a NCCP Trained Endurance Performance Coach with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from the University of Toronto.
