Brian has been involved in competitive sports most of his life. He started running in Grade 2 as part of his school's Kilometer Club after watching Terry Fox in his run across Canada.
In College, Brian competed on his school's Varsity Cross Country Team, winning the Bronze Medal at the 1990 OCAA XC Championships. In 1993, he became an individual OCAA Bronze medalist and was named his College's Male Varsity Athlete of the Year in 1991.
Brian also competed for his University in Cross Country Running and Indoor Track. In 1993, he joined the Toronto Olympic Club (TOC), where he trained and competed in Road Races, Marathons, Track, and Cross Country races.
Some of Brian's memorable races include completing the 1994 Columbus Marathon (2:45), the 1994 Toronto Half Marathon (1:13:53, 3rd in 20 - 24 age group), participating in the 2002 Boston Marathon, and competing at the 2005 World Masters XC Championships in Spain, finishing 14th in the M35 age group.
Brian has been actively volunteering for the TOC, participating in CRS Road Races & Club events since 1993. He has served on the TOC Board of Directors for the last 6 years. Brian was also a racecourse marshal for the Men's & Women's Marathon at the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto as part of TOC's Team.
Brian lives with his family in North Toronto. His two daughters are avid distance runners, regularly competing for their High School and TOC at Provincial and National competitions.
